Going Beyond “Out of the Box”
What’s all the hype about?
In our current age of technology, everyone is talking about digital transformation. It’s a very simple concept with a huge impact. The idea is that once you’ve implemented a new technology and become champions of usage, you need to take it to the next step by connecting it to the rest of your business applications. You get the best bang for your buck by exploring every use case and you ramp business with better analytics, simplified processes, and faster sales cycles, to name a few.
But it’s not just about deploying new business applications, it’s about a vital shift in the way we think about doing business. Previously, IT departments spent the vast majority of their time, budget and expertise on simply maintaining infrastructure. What companies are now realizing is that there needs to be a focus on the future – how do you get ahead? How do you stay relevant? The answer is through technology – not your own IP, but third party applications.
The shift in IT
As we all know, technology is constantly evolving, which means business should evolve quickly as well. In the world of digital transformation, leaders are realizing the need for agility in the innovative process. With legacy on-premise infrastructure, changes to business applications, models and processes took time to plan, develop and execute. Oftentimes, the need for the next change or update came quickly, but doing so meant more time away from other projects, re-training teams, sourcing new expertise…it almost felt like it wasn’t worth it. So falling behind became easier and easier.
Nowadays, with cloud-based solutions, IT doesn’t have to own everything internally. Instead, you become what’s known as a Broker of Services, finding new third party providers to leverage who already have the technology built and can deploy it much faster. Your job is to find innovation opportunities and ensure service delivery.
According to Gartner, Brokers of Services will:
- Accelerate time to market by enabling agile production cycles
- Reduce complexity and overhead of outdated applications and services
- Promote providers who will protect the company from compliance and security problems
- Aggregate, customize and integrate services
- Provide governance to meet requirements without unnecessary waste

- The information is added to an email list in MailChimp for marketing to nurture
Everyone is in the know and business runs smoothly!
Build better customer engagements with PowerApps
You’re out in the field, you’re having a great conversation with a potential client and you end the conversation saying you’ll email them an estimate. In the meantime, that prospect is going to research other vendors and do some price shopping.
Build an app for field workers that lets them create a fully customized estimate in minutes – right from their tablet or phone. Hello, instant win!
Build deep analytic dashboards
Connect PowerBI to ClayOPS for an instant view of actual revenue against specific set targets, including comparisons to previous periods for better budgeting and forecasting.
These are just a few simple use cases available within Office 365, but there’s so much more you can do.
